Boman Irani is a well-known Indian film and theatre actor, voice artist and photographer. He is better known for his comic and villain roles in Bollywood films like Munna Bhai M.B.B.S., Don, 3 Idiots, Happy New Year and Dilwale.
Irani was born on 2 December 1959. He did his schooling from St. Mary's School, Mumbai and graduated from Mithibai College in Mumbai. He joined his mother and ran their ancestral bakery shop located between Novelty and Apsara Cinema in South Mumbai.
He tried his hands into photography and continued until he became an actor.
Irani had been passionate about acting since school and college days. Acting coach Hansraj Siddhia trained him from 1981 to 1983, where he adopted various professional acting methods. He always preferred British theatre for which he developed different accents.
His first film was Everybody Says I'm Fine! However, he received acclaim for his role in Darna Mana Hain. He became popular with Munna Bhai M.B.B.S. He also earned nomination for Best Comedian for his acting in this film. Another film for which he is remembered is 3 Idiots.
Apart from films, Irani also hosted IIFA Awards in Bangkok in 2008, Macau in 2009, Colombo in 2010 and Toronto in 2011. He was also the host of Quiz Show Bollywood Ka Boss.
Irani is married to Zenobia and the couple has two sons, Danesh and Kayoze Irani. He is the secretary of the Parsee Television Actors Community. He is fluent in English, Hindi, Bengali, Gujarati and Marathi.
