Bobby Deol Biography

Bobby Deol, the charming yet macho hero from the Deol clan, was born as Vijay Singh Deol on January 27, 1967 to Dharmendra and Prakash Kaur. His father Dharmendra is a celebrated Hindi actor and so is his elder brother Sunny Deol. The other famous members of Bobby Deol's family are his step-mother Hema Malini, the 'Dreamgirl' of Bollywood and his sister Esha Deol, a promising and glamorous Hindi film actor.

Born into a famous film family, it was obvious that Bobby Deol would follow the footsteps of his father and brother. He made his debut as a child artist in the film 'Dharam Veer' in 1977. As a leading hero, Bobby's first Bollywood movie was 'Barsaat' (1995). In 'Barsaat', Bobby was cast opposite another debutant, Twinkle Khanna. For 'Barsaat', Bobby won good praise from the Hindi film industry. 'Barsaat' got him the Filmfare Best Debut Award that year. With his locks, dimpled smile and an unkempt look, Bobby Deol became the heart-throb of many young girls.

Being a Deol naturally raised the expectations of the film industry and the audience from Bobby. It acted against his rise as a hero to a certain extent. Although Bobby Deol's second film 'Gupt' (1997) with Kajol and Manisha Koirala was a hit, the films that followed were flops at the box-office. After films like 'Aur Pyar Ho Gaya' and 'Kareeb', Bobby Deol's next hit was 'Soldier' (1998), opposite Preity Zinta. Films that followed were 'Badal', 'Bichhoo', 'Ajnabi' and 'Humraaz'. All these films were thrillers and Bobby's roles were quite appreciated.

Bobby Deol tried to break away from the action-hero mould and tried his skills as a romantic actor in films like 'Dosti: Friends For Ever' (2005) and 'Humko Tumse Pyar Hain' (2006). But audience didn't quite like the 'mushy' Bobby Deol. So he returned to the action genre again.

In his personal life, married to Tanya Ahuja and father of two sons, Aryaman and Dharam, Bobby is very close to his family. A great actor and an equally nice human being, Bobby Deol comes across as an honest and hard-working actor. Some of his upcoming films are Apne and Jhoom Barabar Jhoom. In Apne the audience will see all the three Deols - Dharmendra, Sunny and Bobby, together in reel life for the first
