This is among the ancient reservoirs in India, which dates back to the 10th Century. Literally, Surajkund means the "Lake of the Sun". Even known as the "Peacock Lake", the delightful beauty of the lake attracts many tourists from its neighborhood. This semicircular shaped artificial lake was constructed in the form of an amphitheatre. This reservoir is known to be built by King Suraj Pal of the Tomar dynasty. Being a worshipper of the Sun God himself, he even constructed a Sun temple near the western bank of the lake.
