The Hathnikund Barrage is a concrete barrage situated on the Yamuna River. It is located in Yamuna Nagar district of Haryana. The barrage was built for the purpose of irrigation between October 1996 and June 1999.

It diverts water into the Western and Eastern Yamuna Canals and a small reservoir is also located there which is formed by the barrage. It serves as a wetland for around 31 species of water birds.

The Hathnikund barrage is 1,181 ft (360 m) long. Its spillway comprises of 10 main floodgates together with five under sluices to its right side and three to its left side. The maximum spillway capacity of the Hathnikund barrage is 995,874 cu ft/s (28,200 m3/s).

The Hathnikund Barrage replaces the Tajewala Barrage which is located around 2 miles downstream. It was constructed in 1873, but is out of service at present. In early 1970s, plans were in process to replace the Tajewala Barrage. An agreement between Haryana and Himachal Pradesh governments to share the water it diverts was made in July 1994.

The construction of the barrage was completed in late 1999; however it wasn't operational till March 2002 due to work delays. The total construction cost of the Hathnikund Barrage is 168 Crore Rupees. The owner of the Barrage is the Haryana Irrigation Department.
