Panchkula is the northern most district of the state of Haryana and one of the newly formed districts. The total population of the district is 4,69,210 with a total area of 898 square kilometers.

Panchkula has a mixed economy with agriculture and industry contributing almost equally. Main crops are sugarcane, paddy, wheat and gram while the leading industries are involved in manufacturing, processing service and repair.
