It is governed by the Indian Ministry of Defence.Seven elected members form the Delhi Cantonment Board, of which three are elected from the military. The Cantonment Executive Officer of the Board is a member of the Indian Defense Estates Service. The president of the Board is the head who presides over the meetings of the Delhi Cantonment Board. Delhi Jal Board : Delhi Jal Board was formed on 6th April, 1998 through an act of Delhi Legislative Assembly. The board is responsible for supplying drinkable water to the inhabitants of Delhi. The board has taken various steps to carry on its duty effectively. Production and Distribution of potable water is taken up by the Delhi Jal Board, which filters water received from various sources. The Jal Board of Delhi receives water from rivers like Yamuna, Upper Ganga Canal, Bhakra Storage and groundwater, which is used to supply water to the residents of Delhi. Gallons of water are supplied to the New Delhi Municipal Council and Cantonment areas. The sewage system in these areas is also looked after by the Delhi Jal Board.
