Situated at the heart of Madhya Pradesh, Jabalpur is known as one of the ancient cities of Central India. Located on the shores of the river Narmada, it is approximately 308 km from the capital city of Bhopal. Having a 4,000 year old history, Jabalpur is the centre for tourism in the state, apart from being a cultural, industrial and business centre for Madhya Pradesh. One of the major cities of MP, it was earlier known as 'Jubbulpore.'

Jabalpur is located at 23 degree 10'N latitude and 79 degree 57' E longitude, at an altitude of 393 meters mean sea level.

By Air

Daily flights run by almost all domestic airlines are available from most metro cities to Jabalpur Airport or Dumna Airport.

By Train

Jabalpur is connected with trains from almost all major cities of India such as Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Bhopal, Jaipur, Lucknow, Chennai, Patna, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Pune, Goa, Vadodara, Nagpur, New Delhi and Varanasi. The Jabalpur Railway Station serves as the main station of the city, while the Madan Mahal Station is used for transport in the internal parts of the city.

By Road

National Highways (NH7 and NH12) pass through the city of Jabalpur, connecting it to all nearest cities by road. Regular bus and established taxi services provide a regular to and fro service between nearby cities.

Best Time to Visit

The best time to visit Jabalpur is during September to March. Jabalpur is known to have a humid climate most time of the year. Hence, summers should definitely be avoided for travel purposes. Winters being pleasant in the city, make it a favourable time for tourists to enjoy travel.

The temperatures vary from a maximum up to 41°C during summers, which may drop down to a minimum of 8°C, during the peak of winters
