Ajay Jadeja is a cricketer who represented India from 1992-2000. Ajay Jadeja was more than just a cricket player. He was an enthralling performer of the sport, both on and off the field. Ajay's full name is Ajaysinghji Daulatsinghji Jadeja and he was born on 1st February, 1971 at Jamnagar, Gujarat, India. Ajay was born into the royal family of Nawanagar with a strong lineage of crickets like K S Ranjitsinhji and K S Duleepsinhji. Since then, he has intently pursued his interests in cricket at both the domestic and international level as well, moving on to even captain his country in 13 matches.
The major teams that Ajay has represented are India, Delhi, Haryana, Jammu & Kashmir, Rajasthan Cricket Association and President's XI. Whilst not playing cricket due to his infamous five-year ban from by the BCCI for match-fixing, which was quashed in 2003, Ajay has spent his time acting in a movie, Khel (2003) and is presently a cricket commentator.
Ajay Jadeja's is renowned for exuberant batting, dazzling fielding and overall charming nature that made him a cricket star instantly. He has brilliant stroke play, a fine sense of timing and running in-between wickets, as well as a big hitter of the ball, and has turned many a match around for India because of his fiery innings.
Ajay Jadeja made his debut for India in Test Cricket against South Africa at Durban in November 1992. Since then he has appeared in 15 Tests scoring 576 runs. However, his One Day career has been more illustrious. Since he made his ODI debut against Sri Lanka at Mackay in February 1992, Ajay has played in 196 ODI's, scoring an impressive total of 5359 runs including six centuries, his highest being 119. He has also taken 59 catches.
Ajay's most significant performances include his contribution in the 1996 World Cup, quarter-final against Pakistan, at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore, where he scored 45 off 25 balls, including 40 from the final two overs by Waqar Younis. Also against England in Sharjah, he once took 3 wickets for 3 runs in 1 over, and in the Pepsi Asia Cup. However, his cricketing ban cut short his brilliant run and overshadowed his magnificent cricketing skills.
