Covering a total Geographical area of 2,469.90 square Kilometers, North Tripura is an administrative district of the State of Tripura. All the administrative works of the district of North Tripura are regulated from Kailasahar which is the district headquarter. In order to make the administrative procedure easier, the district of North Tripura has been divided into three broad sub- divisions, Kailashahar, Dharmanagar, Kanchanpur. Requirements of developmental activities have instigated further divisions into blocks. The district of North Tripura has been divided into eight blocks,they are:



Kumarghat, Kailashahar and Dharmanagar are also the seat of three Nagar panchayats who are responsible for the administration of the district.

The district of North Tripura is the home to a number of tribes which includes the Chakmas, Koloi, Tripuri and Halam. North Tripura is naturally endowed with cascading rivers like Longai, Juri, Deo, and Manu. The 'Betling Chip' in the Jampui range is the highest point in the district of North Tripura. There are a number of interesting locations in North Tripura that makes it an ideal tourist spot, these include:

Tea plantation is a major economic activity in the district of North Tripura and a large number of people are involved in this job. Besides tea plantation, the people of North Tripura are also engaged in food processing, brick klins, light engineering, rubber based units, distilleries, salt processing units, wood processing units, and small scale industries like handloom, handicrafts.
