The much-awaited Badarpur-Faridabad Metro was inaugurated by Narendra Modi with much fanfare on September 6, 2015. The metro line will now provide easy connectivity to the people of Faridabad with Delhi and vice-versa.

The new route is a 14 km long extension and covers large parts of Faridabad. It has nine stations that run from Sarai to Escorts Mujesar. By 2017, two more stations, NCB colony and Ballabgarh, will come up. It would take one hour and 20 minutes to cover the distance between the two terminals stations of Line 6 i.e. from ITO to Escorts Mujesar. The other stations on the route include Sarai, NHPC Chowk, Mewala Maharajpur, Sector 28, Badkal Mor, Old Faridabad, Neelam Chowk Arjonda and Bata Chowk.

Once Line 6 is fully operational, it will have a length of 43.4 km and will run from Kashmere Gate to Escorts Mujesar. It will have a total of 32 stations out of which five would be inter-change stations and these would include Kashmere Gate, Mandi House, Central Secretariat, Lajpat Nagar and Kalkaji Mandir.

The estimated ridership on Line 6, which currently stands at 1.92 lakh per day, will go up to 2 lakh. Apart from making traveling easier and hassle-free, the new line will also give a major push to the employment opportunities. As Faridabad is a key industrial hub, people coming from Delhi would now be able to reach the city in a shorter span of time and in comfort.
