Mathura University

One of the most important Mathura University is the Uttar Pradesh Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Pashu Chikitsa Vigyan Vishwavidyalaya Evam Go Anusandhan Sansthan. Dedicated to the development of live stock and animal husbandry in the region, this Mathura university was established in the year 2001 on 25th of October by the Uttar Pradesh government under U. P. Act. No. 27 of 2001.

The U.P college of Veterenary and Animal Husbandry established in the year 1947 is the constituent college of the university. The U.P college of Veterinary and Animal Husbandry was the first of its kind to provide graduate, post-graduate and doctoral degrees in veterinary science in Asia.

The importance of animal husbandry in Mathura was long realized with Mathura being the chief exporter of milk and milk products like curd, butter and 'pera', a regional sweet dish.
