Bangalore University

Bangalore University is a public state university which was established in 1886 and is one of the oldest universities in India. The Bangalore University is a part of "The Association of Indian Universities (AIU)" and has got UGC recognition. The university operates from the Jnana Bharathi Campus in Bangalore.

In 1886, the university was started as the Central College, Bangalore by the British Government to award University degrees. On 10th July 1964, it was renamed as Bangalore University by the UGC under the then State Government of Mysore. The Central College, Bangalore and the University Visvesvaraya College of Engineering were merged into this university.

Academics

The Bangalore University has authority over four constituent colleges out of which the Central College and the University Visveswaraya College of Engineering are very famous. For opting a post graduate course from the Bangalore University, one must secure 50% in aggregate and also 50% in the subject he wants to take up for specialization. The University has six faculties Commerce & Management, Arts, Science, Education, Engineering and Law.
