India's road network consists of Expressways, National Highways, State Highways, Major District Roads, Other District Roads, and Village Roads.
The Indian road network is the second largest in the world and covers a total stretch of 33 lakh kms. The national highways have total length of 70,548 kms, the state highways have a stretch of 1,31,899 kms. The major district roads and rural roads cover 4,67,763 kms and 26,50,000 kms respectively.
